Preachables Tanzania:

Here’s another good story of God’s work in a forgotten people group in southwest Tanzania. “We entered this work about one year ago with two medical doctors as SCs. God opened a door for them to minister to a head chief’s grand-daughter through a head fungus. The chief then opened the door for them to move into this village--the ethno-centric core of the people group where sacrifices are made to the spirits of the Safwa. The Lehmans took one of the “huts” that the chief offered and are spending 3-5 nights a week living in this village. The Safwa people have a motto for life --“Drunk from birth to death.”

We spent a night in the village with the Lehmans and saw how every night the people of the village gather to drink gallons of village-brewed liquor. But within a year the Lehmans have seen many come to Christ and are now training key leaders to reach out through Bible storying and medical evangelism to the remaining Safwa villages. It looks like the Bible may be translated into Kisafwa as well. It is as if this work with the Safwa could be on the brink of a church-planting movement.

Praise God for the simplistic and natural way this has taken place.
There has been no “provider” of resources or “controller” of plans and coordination other than the Holy Spirit himself. Remember to pray as foundations are being laid in areas where there was no church or witness last year. Pray that the Lord will raise up leadership obedient to his Lordship. Don’t forget to celebrate this wonderful evidence of the enabling and all sufficient Lord of the harvest. Through Him we continue to push the boundaries and seek those who are lost.”
