CHINA. The Christian worker had labored faithfully among the previously unreached people group for several years. He had learned the language and befriended the people. He had laughed and prayed with them. He had led some to salvation in Christ and had discipled them. He had trained them in evangelism, sent them out and seen some return with great victories. He also had seen some fall away and others undergo fierce persecution. Now he sensed a great moving of the Spirit as he witnessed the Acts scenario of church growth playing itself out before his eyes.

Still he continued to cast vision, encouraging those whom he had trained to look beyond their own villages to the evangelization of their entire people group. At that point, however, it seemed as if they just “didn't get it.” He thought for a brief time that perhaps they had reached a stalemate. He left for an appointment and when he returned, he observed the simple mathematical equations that they had scribbled on the whiteboard. With joy, he realized that local believers had prayerfully calculated the investment of time and energy that would be necessary to reach their entire people group in the next few years. It was the moment he had been waiting for and working toward. They had caught the vision. They had committed to the task.
